What is an Internet Auction

Are you interested in learning more about internet auctions? This article is designed to provide you with the details on how online auctions work and how to avoid getting caught up in the excitement.Specifics may vary from auction to auction; however, the following information includes helpful and important guidelines from which everyone can benefit.

Internet auctions are like an online marketplace. You can "walk in," scan the goods for sale, choose a few items you'd like to buy and then bid on them. Some internet auctions features sellers who are businesses that offer merchandise and accept payment for their goods, which are usually shipped from a warehouse or other location.Other internet auctions are private party only sellers where items are auctioned directly to consumers and shipped directly from the seller's location.

To participate in an online auction as a bidder, you must register.Registration requires you to set up an account where you will either receiver a bidder number or a unique user name. You will also be required to choose a method of payment, and often times, prove that you will be able to pay.Registration must be completed before you participate in an internet auction.

Sellers must also register to sell in an online auction. Then, they can list the items they have for sale and, in most cases, set a time limit and a reserve price (the lowest price they will accept for an item.Sellers also agree to pay a fee every time they conduct an auction, and sometimes a commission fee once they sell.

When the bidding closes at the scheduled time and the reserve price has been met, the highest bidder wins the auction. If no one bids at or above the reserve price, the auction closes without a winner and is usually relisted. At the end of a successful auction, the buyer and seller communicate - usually by email - to arrange for payment and delivery.

Sounds pretty simple right? Not always! The internet is filled with people who are looking to make a quick buck - no matter what.Online auctions are no different. They can often be the target of fraud. However, internet auctions can be a lot of fun and a relatively safe way to do business if you know what you're doing.

Here are some tips that will help you avoid internet auction issues:

- Become familiar with the auction site.

Never assume that the rules of one auction site apply to another.

- Know and understand what form of payment the seller accepts. If the seller accepts only cashier's checks or money orders, decide whether you're willing to risk sending your payment before you receive the product.

- Protect your privacy.Never provide your Social Security number, driver's license number, credit card number, or bank account information until you have checked out the seller and the online payment or escrow service, if you're using one, to ensure legitimacy.

- Learn about the protections (if any) the auction site offers buyers. Some sites provide free insurance or guarantees for items that are undelivered, not authentic or not what the seller claimed.

- Read the entire description of the item, including the fine print.Look for words like "refurbished," "close out," "discontinued," or "B-grade" - especially when shopping for computer or electronic equipment - to get a better idea of the condition of the item being auctioned.

- Find out everything you can about the seller.Avoid doing business with sellers you know nothing about, especially those who try to lure you off the auction site with promises of a better deal. Some auction sites post feedback ratings of sellers based on comments by other buyers.Check them out. These comments and ratings may give you some idea of how you'll be treated.

- Establish the highest price you're willing to pay and stick to it.This can help ensure that you get a fair price and protect you from snipers.Don't bid on an item you don't intend to buy.If you're the highest bidder, you're obligated to follow through with the transaction. Some auction sites bar "non-paying" bidders, also known as "deadbeats," from future bidding.

Earn Cash Make Money Online Today For Free!

There really is no one sure fire way to earn cash, make money online using just one method or one system. With the liquidity of most markets in the World Wide Web, almost anyone can generate an income buying, selling and trading stuff to virtual customers. However, if you are indeed trying to earn cash, make money online then the more important question is: exactly how much money to do you intend to make from your endeavors? Some people are content to make a few sales here and there.Others would want a more sustainable income. And then there are others still who would stop at nothing short than a few hundred bucks a day.

Naturally, the last option sounds very much enticing. After all, who would not want to earn a few hundred dollars a day?But how exactly do you earn cash, make money online that much?

There are three things you have to answer first. One: how much time are you willing to dedicate to your money making efforts.Needless to say, some endeavors would need some dedicated man hours to start off. Two: what system are you using?Finding a system that works is one of the best ways to generate a sustainable income.Finding a great system is the best way to make a huge profit.Three: what amount will you set as minimum limit when you finally earn cash, make money online?

There are people who claim that the best way to generate income via the web is through picking the products which you think you can use and therefore, be eager enough to sell to others. That would be good if you want to earn cash, make money online slowly - like one sale at a time.Sure it would be great to get your personal testimonial on each article you write about how great the product is working for you, but it would take thousands of marketing articles before you can make a dent in the market. You would be lucky if you could get one sale per month. The best advice we can give you with this is: don't quit your day job just yet.

Subscribing to a good system that lets your earn cash, make money online, regardless of what product you are selling, will help you generate a more sustainable income. Some of these will be in the line of affiliate marketing, email list marketing, newsletter marketing and even offering mentoring services. The key to earning a good cash flow on this one is to follow an already structured system that works on a step-by-step basis, (and if possible, to get that system for free.) There are some systems being offered under exorbitant prices, and these may not bode well at all.If you need to spend money on buying a system, do your research. Not all the expensive accounts will help. Some of the lesser systems are well worth the investment. From gathering email addresses, to sending out email alerts and newsletters, to introducing products and affiliates, etc.; these should all be part of the system.

However, if you really, really intend to make (say) a hundred dollars a day on your web business endeavors, then it is important to set up that goal on your own.Realistically, a hundred dollars may seem over the top.The bottom line is that you make a set amount of money that you wish to make over the course of your business endeavor. This will help you keep your mind on the goal; and keep you on your toes. For example, you could initially set up $10 per day as your goal. Here, you will need to work out the "kinks" from whatever system you are using. If you see that you are already making a profit, then you can increase that amount to $20, $30 and even a $100.Needless to say, earning this much money would sometimes entail you to work in front of the computer for some serious hours. But once you get the ball rolling, then you can sit back and reap your due benefits.

Expand Recruiting for Better Hiring

Attract and retain the most talented employees with employee recruitment and staffing strategies. This article will provide you with information that will save your organization time and resources in your hiring process.Whether you're an executive, a manager or a team leader, the following information will be beneficial to you.

While it's possible my Grandpa's memory is playing tricks on him, employers are confirming that some of the things Grandpa says about "the way things were" are true - and important. For example, Grandpa said that a long time ago people just expected to show up for work, on time, every day.But today?

Eric Durr, writing in the Albany (N.Y.) Business Review, says, "Finding people who show up on time for work is a problem that has been getting worse for New York's manufacturers." He quotes a Federal Reserve Bank survey of employers, indicating nearly one-fourth of those responding described their top concern as "finding workers who were punctual and reliable."

A manufacturer of complex machinery, when discussing this issue, indicated their cost accounting process had identified another hidden cost of absenteeism and its little brother, tardiness: When the person who was supposed to be performing a specific task was gone and replaced by someone else, the average cost of the process itself increased by an average of 23 percent.

That's not too surprising. They also found the cost of warranty claims attributable to the process increased by about the same amount, 25 percent.(Not surprising either.)

The revelation, though, came when their figures showed the process cost and the warranty cost of the nearest upstream process on the line and the nearest downstream process both increased by about half that number, 11 percent - and the next stage upstream and downstream also increased, by about 7 percent!

This "ripple effect" in a production environment means for every minute a worker is not doing the job assigned to him or her, for whatever reason, the cost of the production process in their care increases by a net amount approaching 100 percent!

Not many manufacturers in our competitive world can graciously accept a 100 percent increase in costs of production processes, so it is not surprising that the problem of absenteeism/tardiness looms large in manufacturers' concerns. If the perceived value of "showing up on time" leads the work values declining over the past two generations, "working hard" must be close behind.

In our own surveys of employers attending our seminars on hiring and retention, leading concerns have been "finding enough good people who will show up when scheduled and work hard when they are at work."

In addition to the production costs discussed earlier, lack of reliability and work ethic dramatically increases hiring costs when those factors are not measured in the hiring process.

In Durr's article, he quotes a manufacturer of furniture: "When we go to new hires, we may hire five people to get one good person." Presumably, the other four go through hiring, training, failing to live up to expectations, termination and possibly unemployment...a very costly process indeed, to get "one good worker."

Now obviously, not every worker who has entered the job market in the last 10 years suffers from lack of these values, or we would not be finding even that one in five.

To find enough good workers, an employer's task is difficult but not impossible, and the payoffs are substantial: Expand your recruitment pool, so you have enough applicants to be selective: Use a valid and reliable assessment to predict reliability and work ethic; avoid hiring those who are unlikely to work out on those dimensions; and work to keep those good people you do hire.

What To Do To Protect Your Online Reputation

When managing your online reputation, you might wonder what to do if you search google for your name or company and find that a negative item appears about you on page one.Can you have such things removed?

You can't make a negative Google result vanish, but you can help push it farther down the rankings by sending out a steady stream of new content that shows you or your company in a positive light. Here are ten things you can do to quickly get quality content out there:

1.

Create a website. That might seem obvious, but many people don't have their own domain name and website. You can nab the top spot in the search engines for your name or company name just by having a website.

2.Create a blog. The search engines love blogs because they are updated frequently.Even if you leave the blog untended for a while it will still tend to rank well.Target certain names or phrases in your blog titles and the first sentence of the posts. You'll be on page one of Google before you know it.

3.Create pages and sub domains. The search engines view these as separate from your main site, so it's a way to brand yourself more and send out yet more content on the search engines. An example of a subdomain would be "products.yourdomain." Having lots of pages and subdomains out there helps crowd out any negative information that might be on the Internet about your company. This way you remain in charge of the conversations and your reputation.

4.Use Social Media.Use your business or personal name and create profiles in the social media (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).Even if you don't want to use these tools, it is wise to at least reserve your name so that others don't create profiles using your identity, potentially damaging your online reputation.

5.Create a social network of your own.Ning is an excellent free social networking software that you can use for your own community (the free version comes with ads).Or you can pay $5/month and host it on your own domain.

6.Create a LinkedIn profile. This is especially important if you are a professional and are looking for employment. It's also a way for colleagues to find your contact info and a way to meet new clients.

7.Use Flickr.Flickr is a photo sharing site which you might not think of in connection with reputation management, but if you upload photos with your name or company name, they will rank well in the search engines.Include comments on the photos too.Be strategic when choosing your Flickr ID name, because that shows up well in searches.

8.Create a Naymz profile. You can link to all your other profiles from this one site and is a one-stop site for your brand.

9.Create your own Wiki.Rather than create a page for you or your company on Wikipedia (where you don't have total control), create your own wiki instead and build a profile there.Make one for your name or company name. You control who contributes to it.

10.Use Google Pages.Google loves these pages, of course. It's yet another place for you to post content that will rank well, and using these Google Pages is especially important if there is negative content about you on page one that you want to push out.

Why Insurance Agents Are Frustrated and Fed Up

For such a lucrative business it is unfortunate that most first year insurance agents do not renew their insurance license. Why is that? To start with, Big Insurance often tells the new insurance agent to make a list of 100 (or more) people they know to sell to, everyone from family to friends of friends, and then start dialing.

This is known as the infamous "project 100" which consists of bothering anyone the agent knows to make insurance sales to. The agent tries to sell them insurance, whether they need it or not. When they run out of friends and family then what? So what if the insurance company gave the agent a nice office. Who are they going to sell insurance to now? Most agents in this scenario quit only to become a statistic.

Or, the agent might be handed a 37 page list of phone numbers, maybe even the phone book, most of them dead or disconnected numbers from years ago, and they're told to start cold calling. Or the agent is commonly told about a fantastic lead system that is just a crumpled piece of paper with a few names and numbers. Of course everyone else in the building has already tried and failed to sell to these so called leads.

Newly licensed insurance agents are often told they just need to survive their first year in order to make some real income in their second year. Yeah right, what exactly do insurance agents get paid to do? The truth is, most agents won't or don't last that long because the big insurance companies set them up to fail by default.

It's no wonder insurance companies have morphed into churning factories, turning out agent after agent who decides to quit after investing time and money into taking the insurance exam and getting a few sales. The insurance company's managers are all too happy to accept the renewals left over from these agents. This might make the insurance companies and a few of the managers rich, but agents are fed up with this approach.

Agents are also tired of selling strategies that involve bait and switch techniques in which the agent promises the customer something for free, like a review of their government benefits, only to get in to their homes to sell something unrelated or something they just don't need. It's a "push and sell" style and it rarely works in the long term for agents.

At National Agents Alliance (NAA) we understand that what most agents need to thrive in the insurance business is a proven system. The NAA system consists of a mailed in response client lead program, a unique field underwriting process, a proven agent marketing program, and a powerful agency building opportunity. Systems help the agent make more money in less time and the foundation of our agents success is the exclusive NAA lead system.

A client response lead is the ultimate leverage in insurance sales. Unlike other insurance marketing organizations NAA owns its own lead company that provides its agents a consistent flow of qualified leads from potential clients across the country. This one of a kind program allows the agent to focus their efforts contacting prospects who have mailed a response letter back to the company. The end result is the agent spends most of their time in front of clients selling instead of prospecting.

In their own handwriting, homeowners are leaving contact details expecting an agent to call them back. The perfect marketing campaign in any business is one that can deliver potential clients who have identified a problem in their mind that you have a solution for. That is the backbone of the NAA lead program.

Taking this system-based approach has propelled NAA from $10 Million in sales in 2002 to over $140 Million in sales for 2007. NAA offers a full portfolio of life insurance and annuity products representing top A-rated companies like Old Mutual Life, ING, Foresters, and Aviva.

NAA believes its most important principle is to help others out first and you will be rewarded handsomely in return. This is the motto of Thomas Brown, an NAA agent who runs his own multi-million-dollar agency. My goal is to help change people's lives, to help them improve their lives, says Brown. I want to find winners, the next success story. I want to help people reach high levels of productivity and income. You can too by joining the next wave in the insurance business with NAA.

How to Get the Discount Out of a Discount Car Rental

Discount car rentals are so hard to come by, and in recent times, discount car rentals simply mean you pay less for something less, and lets face it, sometimes when you pay less for a car rental, you end up with something that looks more like a farmer's truck than a car. It's hard to come up with a budget friendly rental, so how do you get a discount car rental these days? Well here are a few tips to boost the value of your money, car rental wise.

1. A good way to essentially, get a discount car rental is to, once you return the car, fill the tank with the cheapest no-name gas you could find, not for revenge or anything, but because car rental companies, require customers to fill the gas tank before returning it, and it you don't they'll fill it for you with the company pump but at a higher price, now we don't want that, so be sure to fill your tank before you return the car.

2. To get the discount off of discount car rental, make early reservations, some car rental companies give discounts or free upgrades for customers who reserve their cars early.

3. When you're planning to use your rental car for more than five days, or longer, ask the rental car company if you can get discount car rentals for a weekly rate, most companies offer discounts for the sixth and seventh day for weekly rentals.

4. Ask your travel agency if you could get discount car rentals if you acquire packages like fly-stay-drive or fly-drive. Most travel agencies as well as hotels offer these programs at a discounted price, what's good about this is that you get a discount and you shoot two to three birds with one stone.

5.When you go to a car rental company, ask them if you could get a discount car rental in exchange for your frequent flyer miles, this is good for those miles that are about to expire, so instead of throwing them away you'd get one last use for them.

6. One way to get a discount car rental or maybe just the best deal for your money is to look for sites or rental car firms that accepts a pre-determined budget. This is when you indicate the money you're willing to spend for the car rental, most rental car companies will give you the program that has the biggest discount car rental and the best deal for you, of course it pays to know if the company has a history of fraud, in this day and age, you can't really trust people that much with your money, check out the car before you reserve.

7. Ask the rental company for discount car rentals when you frequently rent a car at their firm, they're most likely to give discounts or free upgrades if you always rent with them.

8. Get discount car rentals by reserving your car through the internet. Most rental firms have internet only discounts that can save you a lot of money, look up the rental firm that has the greatest discount for the same value.

9. To get a discount car rental upgrade, try going to pick up your car just as the shop is opening, there'll be a shortage in the economy cars, and you'll probably get a free upgrade when they can't give you the car you reserved.
